True Good and Evil,

Alignment is becoming a very popular feature to include in a game, especially in RPGs. However these game fail to accurately represent Good and Evil.

Good people are not always plain, wimpy, clerical type people. A Righteous Warrior with blood dripping from his axe can be just as good as the priest at the local church, as long as he has made the right decisions.

Evil is not always so cool looking, and now always powerful. Commoners can be just as evil as the evil mastermind behind the war plaguing your hometown, as long as he has made evil choices.

Consequences are rarely touched upon, and when they are the only is that being evil scares SOME people. But what happened to the young boy you valiantly saved with no material reward? What if he came back to join you in your quest for Good, that is if yous till walk that line. Or perhaps the daughter of that noble you killed just take his money, and loot his epic-leveled armor? What if she vowed to kill you, and came back, trained and with a vengeance?

Granted all good actions don't take forever to get rewarded for, and some you may never hear as little as a thank you. Nor does all evil actions pay out instantly, nor do they always take years to come back and kick you in the butt.

Different actions require different consequences (both rewarding and punishing) and they are not always consistent with previous actions you've taken. Killing does not always mean better equipment, nor does saving people always grant future services from them.
